Spring Concert 2015

As the SUU BDC Intermediate Team director, I was asked to choreograph and teach four routines to be performed in the spring concert. There were only three returning members from fall semester, with two returning to the company after previous attendance, and the other seven performers being new to the program. Of the seven new members, three had never danced before in any style.

The following dance is a Nightclub Two-Step routine entitled "Just A Kiss" by Lady Antebellum.

This next routine is a Foxtrot, performed to an unusual song for this style entitled "The Bioshock Song."

Following that is the Quickstep, choreographed to the song "Wikked Lil' Girls" by Esthero.

The final number is in the style of the Hustle, with more modern aesthetics performed to "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

Eternal

"Eternal" by William Joseph is a Viennese Waltz inspired by the Regency Dances described through the writings of author Jane Austen. It was showcased in the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 ballroom concerts, as well as performed during the SUU BDC's summer tour to Puerto Rico.

Happy

This routine was choreographed by request of the Miss Iron County pageant director. She chose the song and asked us to choreograph a routine to it that could be performed during the pageant while contestant scores were being tallied. It was challenging to write for this song at first, as the timing and speed of the song doesn't quite fit any one particular style completely, so it is a mixture of Standard dance combinations and theater arts (cabaret) lifts.

"Happy" by Secrets in Stereo is a Standard dance solo that was showcased in the 2011 Miss Iron County Pageant, the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 concerts, as well as during tours to California and Washington. It represents the highs and lows of embarking in a relationship with someone who may not have been the obvious choice for love, but had been there all along.

Pirates of the Caribbean

This number was choreographed for participation in the SUU Howl, the annual Halloween dance party. The accompaniment is a collection of music from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, and includes musical excerpts from each movie. This is a character piece as well as a mini Standard Medley that consists of Waltz, Tango, and Viennese Waltz. It was showcased at the 2011 SUU Howl, the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 concerts, and during tours to California and Washington.

Dancing with the Stars 2012

This Cha Cha choreographed to Lady Gaga's "Telephone" was my entry for SUU's Dancing with the Stars. My partner, Kaden Carli, is a member of the SUU Football Team. He enjoys hip hop dancing, but this was his first ever ballroom experience.
